We will address how to successfully understand BHRT (bioidentical hormone replacement therapy) reviewing what bioidentical hormones are, modes of delivery from their prescribing physicians (or self-administration) including FDA vs non-FDA, safest and most effective delivery methods based on NAMS guidelines, while also addressing what we learned from nonoptimal synthetic delivery from the past 30 years helping to ensure our narrative reports and referrals support the best approach for our co-anaged patients alongside patient education and informed consent. We will additionally discuss the “bleed risk” and endometrial protection, as well as follow-up functional testing while on hormone therapy.
